Prices and figures

How we update prices

What the numbers on Cookie Jar mean, where they come from and how often they change.

The catalog was last updated on October 9, 2026. If a figure here and the one at checkout differ, the checkout is right.

What we update, and how often

We update prices, and which sizes, colors and sets of each jar are on offer, on a schedule, several times a month. A jar that stops being offered leaves the shop at the next update and comes back by itself when it returns. Prices here are the figures from our last update, not a promise.

What stays the same between updates

Capacities, heights, materials, lids and care lines belong to the jar, not to a price, so they change only when the jar changes. We print each one only where the maker gives it for that jar: a jar whose maker does not state a capacity has no capacity on its card.

How the jars are chosen

We rank cookie jars by how many people buy them, how they rate them and what they cost, and we keep the hundred that come out on top with four stars or more. Ratings and their counts are the ones buyers gave each jar; where one jar comes in several colors or sizes, it is counted once.

Sources

Our articles cite the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on lead in pottery glazes and the Exploratorium on keeping cookies. We open and read each source before we quote it, and the date we read it is printed beside it. The rules we follow when we write the Cookie Jar buying notes are in our editorial policy.
