The animal on the counter
Animal jars are the oldest kind of novelty cookie jar, and these keep the tradition: a black-and-brown cow from Creative Co-Op, Toby the toad from burton+BURTON, a gilded rooster from Certified International, a panda and a dragon from Pacific Giftware, a cat and a barnyard scene.
Most are hand-painted ceramic, and the head of the animal is often the lid. That makes the lid the part to handle with care: lift it with both hands and set it down on a towel, not on the hard counter.
These 8 jars are part of the Cookie Jar catalog, $27.09 to $155.96 at the last catalog update, so you can set a budget before you pick a shape.
Questions
Animal cookie jars: what people ask
Is an animal cookie jar a good choice if you have kids?
Children love them, and that is the risk: a ceramic lid shaped like a head is heavy and easy to drop. Put the jar where an adult lifts the lid, or choose an acrylic jar for a counter a child can reach.
How do you clean a figural animal cookie jar?
By hand. Use a soft brush in the folds of the figure, dry it fully before the lid goes back, and skip the dishwasher unless the card says it is allowed.
